Step By Step Guide To Applying For A French Visa

The Eiffel Tower is not the only attraction in France. Its sophisticated educational system is also one of the reasons behind the influx of many visitors in the country. As the center of the world’s culture and arts, France provides a one of a kind learning environment to many.

The demand for a French student visa is felt in all parts of the world and the Philippines is not exempt from this. Through the years, many Filipinos fly to France to specialize in their respective fields and attain high quality education. This situation, thus explains the popularity of the French student visa in the country.

Requirements

To apply for a student visa, the following documents should be submitted:

Complete long stay visa application form

At least 2 photos (35 mm x 45mm), taken against a white background

Copies of the passport’s data page

Pre-enrollment certificate from any French school or university

Scholarship certificate

Lodging evidences in France

For those who are participating in exchange programs, evidences of enrollment in a Philippine university such as enrollment certificate, tuition receipts and school ID should be presented

Diplomas

Evidences of financial resources (self or sponsor). Examples of these proofs are:

o Recent and previous business registrations documents

o Income tax returns

o Bank account statements within the last three months

o NSO-authenticated birth certificate

Application procedures

Step 1–Secure a pre-enrollment certificate from the university being applied for. Without this document, the application cannot push through.

Step 2–Schedule an appointment with the French Embassy. Applicants should contact the embassy from 2PM-4PM at this contact number: 857 – 69 – 24. Student visa candidates can also send an email to: cultural.ambafrance.manille@gmail.com

Step 3 – Gather all the necessary documents. Upon scheduling for an appointment, applicants should immediately process and obtain all the required papers and certificates. Incomplete documents can result to visa denial or disapproval. \

Step 4 – Pay the processing fees. Since a student visa is categorized as a long stay visa, it costs 99€. The fee should be paid in Philippine peso based on the current exchange rate.

Step 5 – Prepare for the interview. All student visa applicants should go through a pre-consular interview.

Step 6–Attend the appointment and the interview. It should be remembered that student visa candidates are required to submit biometric information for security purposes.

Step 7 - Wait for a decision.

Visa processing may last for five (5) days. To ensure higher approval chances, it would be best to immediately secure all the document requirements. In addition, the assistance of immigration lawyers in the country can help student visa applicants better understand the immigration policies and conditions that their visa entails. These legal professionals can also assist candidates in passing the pre-consular interviews.

The Philippines and Spain share a long and rich historical past. In fact the name Philippines, given to the islands by Spanish explorers, was derived from that of King Philip II of Spain. The strong influence of Spain on the Philippines can be seen in almost every aspect of Philippine culture most especially the language, religion and education. For this reason, Filipino tourists make sure to include Spain in their European itinerary.

A traveler from the Philippines who would like to visit Spain for a short-term stay as a tourist must apply for a Schengen visa. It is the official visa used in the unified visa system now being implemented in 25 countries in Europe collectively including Spain. The Schengen visa is the result of the agreement made by several countries to abolish internal border controls for easier travel within their territory. Now citizens from non-EU and EEA countries only need a single visa to visit the countries that belong to the Schengen area.

Being a Schengen state, Spain issues a Schengen visitor visa to people who want to the country for tourism purposes. A single entry visa allows the holder to stay for up to 90 days within a 6-month period. A multiple entry format on the other hand grants a holder to enter and depart an indefinite number of times within a 180-day period although the total must not be more than 90 days.

The requirements for a Schengen visitor visa to Spain include the following:

Passports or travel documents (must be valid for the total duration of the planned stay)

Relevant visas (where applicable)

Justification of purpose and conditions of the stay, and accreditation of sufficient economic means of support for the duration of the stay in Spain

For tourism or private trips

-substantiating documentation of accommodation reservation or private letter of

invitation from a private individual if staying in their dwelling

-proof of confirmation of the reservation of an organized trip with itinerary

-closed round-trip or tour ticket

-proof that applicant has 63.33 euros to spend per day during his stay in Spain

Medical certificates (in exceptional cases)

The following are NOT eligible to apply for a Schengen visitor visa to Spain:

a. those who are subject to an exclusion order

Possible causes of exclusion include:

-having previously been deported or returned to another country by Spain or by

any Schengen State

-having been expressly denied entry for activities contrary to the interests of

Spain, activities against human rights, or for notorious connections with criminal

organizations

-being internationally sought for criminal activity

b. those who represent a danger to the public health, public order, national security, or

the international relations of Spain or any State with which Spain holds an agreement

related to these matters

c. those who have stayed in Spanish territory for a total of 90 days in the last 6 months,

counting from the date of last entry

Procedures in applying for a Schengen visitor visa to Spain:

1. Download an application form at http://www.maec.es/en/M. Accomplish the form correctly

and completely. Do not forget to sign it.

2. Submit the duly accomplished form and all the required and supporting documents at the

Consulate of Spain in Manila.

3. Pay the processing fee.

4. Processing of visa applications is 15 calendar days from the date of submission. If a more

detailed examination of the application is required, processing period may be extended to

maximum of 30 days. If additional documentation is need, this can be extended to a

maximum of 60 days.

5. Go to the consulate to personally collect the visa within one month from the date you receive

your notification of approval. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified via a standard form

stating the reason for the denial. In such cases, the applicant can file an appeal for a judicial

review before the High Court in Madrid within a period of two months from notification

date. Another option would be to appeal for review before the Consular Office within one

month from the date of notification.

Applying for a Schengen visitor visa to Spain is not an easy process. With a help of a lawyer, applicants can make sure their documents are in order and they are properly following the application procedures. Siam Legal International is a reputable law firm that offers excellent Schengen visa assistance services to Filipinos planning to visit Spain and any of the other countries in the Schengen territory.

Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration recently announced a sudden surge in the number of foreign students who enrolled in Philippine universities and colleges this school year.

According to Teodulo Estrada, Head of the BI Student Desk, the BI recorded an increase of more than twenty percent (20%) in approved student visa applications which totalled 6,416.

“And the numbers are still rising! Many foreign students are still applying hoping to get a chance to enrol this first semester,” Estrada beamed.

Estrada adds that the increase was brought about by the liberalization of the rules and procedures for the filing of applications for Philippine student visas, which ultimately resulted in the increase.

He added that the highest number of student applicants were Korean nationals. Aside from the liberalized rules, Estrada stressed that another important factor is the quality education which the international students derive from the Philippines at a very affordable price, as compared to those offered by other countries.

STARTING November this year, foreigners who intend to marry UK citizens or persons settled in the UK must prove that they can speak and understand simple and basic English.

Thus an applicant applying as the husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner, same-sex partner, fiancé(e), or prospective civil partner of a UK citizen or a person settled in the UK must undergo and pass a required English language examination with one of the official test providers accredited by the UK Border Agency. Writing and reading skills are not required, however.

Applicants who are citizens of majority English-speaking countries are not required to undergo the language test.

Under the new regulation, the applicant must exhibit a basic command of spoken English and reach at least the A1 level based on the Common European Framework of Reference. Under the A1 level, the person can understand and use everyday simple expressions as well as very basic phrases.

The A1 level is similar to that required under Tier 2 (skilled workers) points-based system.

The official guidelines for the new requirement shall be published in the amended Immigration Rules sometime in September this year.

Cebu City, also called the “Queen City of the South” is one of the most favourite travel destinations of both local and foreign tourists.

Located right smack in the middle of the Visayas region, it can be found 365 miles south of Manila, surrounded by 167 islets which comprise the Province of Cebu.

The province of Cebu is truly blessed in terms of geographic location since it is surrounded by larger islands which shield it from the storms usually passing the country’s area of responsibility several times a year. Another reason why there is an almost zero per cent rainfall in Cebu is that the pacific monsoon loses all its moisture and droplets on the islands surrounding Cebu before it even reaches the province.

There is also no known active volcano or active fault line within the province, rendering it safe from earthquake, tsunamis, and other natural calamities.

While the city proper of Cebu offers state of the art living, with facilities and amenities comparable to the highly urbanized Metro Manila, the other islands surrounding metro Cebu offer a stark contrast to the city that never sleeps.

The pristine beaches, crystal-clear water, and serene atmosphere of the white sandy seashores make Cebu one of the best sites for diving in the country. A number of the 167 islands which comprise the province remain uninhabited at present, thus making it virtually the personal paradise of adventurous vacationers who explore the islands as part of their tour.

But aside from these island activities, the city of Cebu offers a lot of other action-packed activities such as shopping for native art products and handicrafts, visits at several Roman Catholic Churches built during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines, boat cruises, shopping at state of the art shopping malls situated in Cebu City proper, and trips to other nearby islands like Bohol, Leyte, Negros via a jet craft.
